Arsène Wenger won't play ball

Arsene Wenger will not consider a transfer for Alex Song. It was predictable that the French manager would not be at all happy about Barcelona's interest in the Cameroon player and, in fact, the 'azulgranas' have already said that they did not expect it to be easy.
"Song is not in the same situation as Robin Van Persie and we've never had any contact with anybody from Barcelona", the Arsenal coach asserted. Wenger says that the Van Persie situation is different as the Dutch player, on whom Manchester United has its sights set, will be out of contract next season, while Song still has three more years remaining on his deal with Arsenal.
The coach used the old tactic of shooting the messenger: "In Spain the newspapers are not really serious. We've had the experience of that". Wenger is playing his role, which is to hold up the player's transfer for as long as possible and hold on to the idea that 'everyone is lying'. The aim is none other than, if he cannot keep Song, to hike up the price as much as he can so that he can sign a fireproof replacement.
Barcelona has already made an initial offer of €15 million for Song and everything that has happened up to this point has already been taken into consideration in the Catalan club's plan of action.
It was expecting a negative reception from Wenger, just as happened with Cesc Fàbregas. It was also expecting Arsenal to put a high price tag on the Cameroon international. It remains to be seen whether the story for Song ends the same way as for Fàbregas, to the irritation of Wenger/
