The Santiago Bernabeu is preparing itself to welcome the Champions of the best Liga season in history. The fans have had to wait three months, 99 days to be exact, to watch the only team in the competition’s history that has won 100 points and scored 121 and one thing is for certain; the Madrid fans will not miss out on the opportunity to see their team play. In fact, with three days to go until the match and in the middle of the holiday period, 10,000 tickets have already been sold. The fans will get behind their team this Sunday. José Mourinho’s third year leading the team begins officially in front of the fans and against Valencia, who came third last season. Furthermore, it will be the first time the Portuguese coach has started the season at the Bernabeu.
There are only three days left until the start of the Liga and the start of Real Madrid’s defence of the title they won in such spectacular fashion last season. The fans were a deciding factor in winning the title. In fact, the Bernabeu saw 16 victories, 2 draws and only one defeat. This year the challenge is even harder, if that is possible, and the fans want to create the perfect atmosphere so that the team wins all its home matches and wins its second consecutive championship. They want to create this atmosphere from day one.
The ticket offices at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite it being the middle of August, are busy and 10,000 tickets have already been sold. Nobody wants to miss the debut of the Real Madrid 2012/13 squad.
The team that scored 100 points and scored 121 goals returns to action
It is also set to be a grand opening to the season. A renewed Valencia, with Pellegrino leading the team, will be the first touchstone in an official match for José Mourinho’s third year in charge of the team. The Portuguese coach will start the season for the first time at home since taking charge of the club. The first two corresponding fixtures took place in Mallorca (0-0) and Zaragoza (0-6).
Real Madrid’s American tour, the only four matches in which Mourinho has had all his squad available, with the exception of Marcelo, who was playing with Brazil in the Olympic Games, was cause for all sorts of praise. Four victories in as many games and 14 goals (3.5 per match), including an exhibition against Milan, indicates that Real Madrid is set to start this season in very good form. The fans always want to play their part, so that this year is another unforgettable season for the city. This Sunday, the Real Madrid 2012/13 returns to action. The Liga returns to the Bernabeu.
