China Baby Saved: Firefighters, Medics Rescue Newborn From Sewer Pipe
Chinese state media say firefighters and medics have rescued a newborn boy from a sewer pipe below a squat toilet.
The state-run news site Zhejiang News says a tenant heard the baby's cries in the public restroom of a residential building in eastern China's Puijian county Saturday and notified authorities. Firefighters removed an L-shaped section of the pipe -- about 10 centimeters (3 inches) in diameter -- and rushed it to a hospital where it was dismantled and the baby was treated.
Video footage of the rescue was broadcast nationally overnight.
Zhejiang News says the child -- named Baby No. 59 from the number of his incubator -- is safe.
Police are treating the case as an attempted homicide, and are looking for the mother and anyone else involved.

British Transport Police condemn actions as 'utterly stupid'
This is the shocking moment a passenger jumps from a platform and runs in front of a moving train in a bid to stop it departing a station.
The 19.40 Ebbw Vale to Cardiff Central station was preparing to leave Crosskeys station on May 15 when the passenger launched a desperate bid to get on board.
The white man, wearing a red t-shirt and dark trousers, sprints from the pathway leading up to the station to the opposing platform before leaping onto the tracks.
He crosses directly in front of the train which is forced to screech to a halt.
But they remain locked as a train steward leans out of the front carriage to berate the man.
After a brief exchange, the doors remain closed and the train pulls away.
British Transport Police condemned the man's actions as 'utter stupidity' and have released footage of the incident in a bid to catch the offender.

Deer crashes through windshield of Johnstown
A deer crashed through the front window of a Johnstown, Pennsylvania bus.
Tribune-Democrat reports that a deer crashed through the windshield of a public bus in Johnstown on Tuesday evening.
The CamTran bus driver's bus-driving instincts quickly kicked in.
"The driver immediately stopped the bus," Yoder told the paper. "He opened the door, and the deer just walked off the bus."
Mountain bike beats speed record
The record for the top speed reached on a mountain bike was broken on Sunday.
Frenchman François Gissy reached a speed of 263km/h (163 mph).
The mountain bike powered by hydrogen peroxide broke the previous record of 242.6km/h (150 mph) on a track near Mulhouse, eastern France.
